What's covered
- ✓ Your equipment: solar panels, inverters and optimizers, and racking and mounting hardware, repaired or replaced on mechanical breakdown.
- ✓ Labor and visits: labor up to $100/hour, $100 diagnostics and $300 service calls.
- ✓ $0 deductible on every covered claim.
- …and more.
Plan terms, including coverage, limits and exclusions, are provided in writing at purchase.
How it works
- 1. Book your site assessment. A licensed electrician spends about 2 hours checking your system.
- 2. We confirm it's running properly. If repairs are needed first, we'll quote them.
- 3. You enroll with Align. We'll get you enrolled in a 1, 3, 5 or 7-year plan, and you buy it directly from Align Solar Protection.
After your site assessment confirms your system is running properly, we'll get you enrolled, and you buy the plan directly from Align Solar Protection. Pricing is provided at your assessment.

What 7 years without protection can cost
Some homeowners get lucky and their system runs for years without a hiccup. Here's a realistic estimate for a typical 7–8 kW Massachusetts system, using typical regional repair prices and today's electricity rates.
A typical 7 years (estimate)
| A diagnostic or service visit when something looks off | $100 – $300 |
| An inverter repair or replacement (a few microinverters, or one string inverter) | $300 – $2,500 |
| One to two months of lost production before it’s fixed | $210 – $520 |
| Estimated total | $600 – $3,300 |
When things go badly (estimate)
This is not the usual case. Each step is common on its own; together they add up fast.
| The inverter dies and nobody notices. The first sign is a big electric bill. | |
| String inverter replaced | $1,000 – $2,500 |
| Diagnostic visit | $100 – $300 |
| Then a 3+ month wait to get someone out. About 5 months of production, gone. | |
| Lost solar production | $1,050 – $1,300 |
| Meanwhile a slow leak at a roof penetration soaks the deck for months. | |
| Flashing and seal repair | $800 – $2,500 |
| Panels removed and reinstalled to reach the roof | $1,000 – $3,000 |
| Rotted rafters repaired or sistered | $500 – $5,000 |
| Roof sheathing replaced | $600 – $2,500 |
| Attic mold remediation | $1,000 – $4,000 |
| Estimated total | $6,050 – $21,100 |
Compare that with the price of a 7-year plan, which we'll give you at your assessment.
The plan covers repairs to covered equipment, labor and service calls under its written terms; it does not promise to cover roof leaks or mold. That kind of trouble is exactly what regular check-ups and fast service are meant to catch early, before a small problem becomes a big bill.
Estimates only, based on published typical repair and remediation prices and Massachusetts residential electricity rates in 2026. Your costs will differ.
Planning a removal & reinstall?
Re-roofing or moving panels? Don't do it without protection. Ask about a plan with your solar panel removal and reinstall, or start with repairs and maintenance if something's already wrong.
