Fix My Solar

Your installer went bankrupt. Your solar didn't.

Ecogen is a local, licensed electrical and roofing crew. Tell us what's wrong, and we'll tell you what's covered, what isn't, and what we can do about it.

  • Fully licensed & insured in MA, RI, CT, NH, and ME
  • We do roofing too
  • We'll call you back to set up a visit
  • Google reviews

Step 1

Tell us about your system. It takes about a minute.

Do you own it or lease it?

Not sure? Check your contract. If you make monthly payments to a solar company (not a bank), it's probably a lease or PPA.

It's usually printed on the box near your electric meter, or in your monitoring app.

What's going on? (optional)

Up to 5: the inverter label, error screen or your monitoring app. A blurry phone photo is fine. 10 MB each, 25 MB total.

Three companies — one problem

We are the one solution.

Most solar systems involve three players: the manufacturer (who stands behind the parts), the financier or lease company (who you pay), and the installer (who did the labor). When the installer disappears, the parts warranty often survives, but there's nobody to do the work.

If you own your system

Paid cash or financed with a loan. It's your equipment, so you can hire us directly.

  • Diagnostics. A licensed electrician finds what's actually wrong: inverters, microinverters, optimizers, wiring, breakers, communication problems.
  • Repairs, billed directly to you. Written quote first, no middleman.
  • Warranty claims. If a part is still under manufacturer warranty, we'll help you file the claim and swap the part.
  • Monitoring reconnection. We help get monitoring back online and can give you access through Ecogen's monitoring portal.

If you lease it or have a PPA

We don't work on leased equipment without the owner's written permission. We can help with that as well — just let us know who it is with. Here's what we can do:

  • Roof replacement with panel removal and reinstall, with written approval from the company that owns your lease. We can help with that as well — just let us know who it is with.
  • Lease buyout help. An honest read on the system's condition so you know what you'd be buying. Ecogen doesn't give financial or legal advice.

For existing solar owners

Extended service plan

Already have solar, but no service warranty left? When the original installer is gone — or the workmanship coverage simply ended — a lot of homeowners are stuck hoping nothing breaks. Ecogen offers extended protection plans so you have somewhere to call again if something does.

This is for systems already on the roof, not new installs. If your panels are producing but you want coverage going forward, we can enroll you in an extended plan that fits your system. No hard sell. Plan options and pricing are coming soon. Call 508-4-ECOGEN (508-432-6436) to ask about coverage.

  • • Built for homeowners who already own solar and lost (or never had) ongoing service coverage
  • • Local crew that already does repairs, monitoring help, and roof-related solar work
  • • Plain answers on what’s covered before you enroll — written quote for any repair work that falls outside the plan

Need a new roof, but your solar is in the way?

Most solar installers don't do roofs, and most roofers don't do solar. We do both. One local crew takes the panels down, replaces the roof, puts the system back and makes sure it's producing before we leave, so solar is typically down about two weeks instead of two months or more.

Owned system: book it directly. Leased system: we'll need your lease company's written approval first. We can help with that as well — just let us know who it is with.

Questions homeowners ask

I have a SunPower system and can’t get service. Can you help?

Often, yes. SunPower filed for bankruptcy in 2024. If you own your SunPower system, you can hire us directly for diagnostics and repair in Massachusetts. If you lease it or have a PPA, the company that owns your lease decides who does the work. We can help with that as well — just let us know who it is with. Ecogen Services is not affiliated with any former installer named on this page.

Do you repair SunPower panels and inverters?

Yes. We diagnose and repair SunPower systems, including panels, microinverters and monitoring that stopped reporting. Before any repair we review your warranties with you and give you a written quote.

Will having Ecogen work on my system void my warranty?

It depends on the warranty, so we’ll review yours with you before we touch anything. Most systems have several separate warranties (panels, inverters, workmanship, sometimes the roof). When an installer closes, its workmanship warranty usually goes with it, but manufacturer warranties often survive. If a repair could affect your coverage, we’ll tell you first.

I own my system. Can I just hire you?

Yes. If you paid cash or financed with a loan, the system is yours, and you can hire any licensed contractor. We’ll diagnose it, give you a written quote, and bill you directly.

I lease my system or have a PPA. Can you repair it?

Not without the system owner’s permission. If you lease, the company that owns your lease owns the equipment and is responsible for maintaining it, often through a third-party servicer. Contact your current service provider first; if they approve outside work in writing, we can help. We can help with that as well — just let us know who it is with. We can also help with roof work and panel removal and reinstall once the system owner approves it in writing.

My installer went bankrupt and my system isn’t getting fixed. What can I do?

If you lease, keep a written record of your requests and the dates. Massachusetts advises homeowners who have trouble with a solar provider that they can file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office. If you own your system, you don’t have to wait. Call a local licensed contractor, like us.

Do you work on systems you didn’t install?

Yes, that’s what Fix My Solar is for.

What is the extended service plan for?

It’s for homeowners who already have solar and don’t have an active service warranty anymore — so you’re not left without coverage again. It’s not for new installs. Ask us what’s included for your system; we’ll walk through it with no pressure.

What does a diagnostic visit cost?

We’ll quote it after we look at your system. You’ll always get a written quote before any repair work.

Can you take my panels off so I can get a new roof?

Yes. We do both roofing and solar, so one crew handles the whole thing and solar is typically down about two weeks, not two months or more. If your system is leased, we’ll need written approval from the company that owns your lease first. We can help with that as well — just let us know who it is with.

Let's get your solar working again.

Answer a few quick questions, add your address and a utility bill, and a local person will follow up.
