Charging that pays for (most of) itself. Utility and state programs can cover a big share, sometimes nearly all, of the electrical work and hardware for shared charging:
- • Apartments & condos (5+ units): Utility make-ready programs can cover up to 100% of the electrical infrastructure (within per-port limits), plus charger rebates of 50-100% depending on location. State MassEVIP grants can cover up to 60% of costs (up to $50,000 per address).
- • Workplaces (15+ employees) and fleets: MassEVIP up to 60%, plus utility make-ready where available.
- • Public-access lots, retail and municipalities: MassEVIP up to 80% (100% on government-owned property), plus utility charger and networking rebates.
- • Rhode Island properties: ChargeRI can cover up to 90% for multifamily (up to $12,000 per station) and 80% for workplaces and public sites.

Questions homeowners ask
How much does a home Level 2 charger install cost?
Most straightforward installs near your electrical panel land in the low-to-mid four figures before rebates. Longer wire runs, subpanels or a service upgrade cost more. We'll give you one firm, itemized number after a quick photo review.
Will I need a panel upgrade?
Usually not. We run a proper load calculation first. If your panel is tight, we'll show you options like smart load management before suggesting a bigger (pricier) upgrade.
Which charger should I buy?
One that's on your utility's approved list, or the rebate can disappear. We'll recommend a few qualifying smart chargers, or we can install one you already bought if it qualifies.
Who gets the rebate check?
In most programs, you do. Your utility pays you after the job is done and you're enrolled in its off-peak program. We give you the paperwork it needs.
Is there still a federal tax credit for home chargers?
No. The federal charger credit ended for equipment installed after June 30, 2026. Anyone still offering it is selling you last season's coupon.
How long does it take?
Most home installs take less than a day once the permit is in hand.
Do I have to charge at certain times?
To get most MA rebates you enroll in your utility's off-peak program for at least 12 months, and they pay you a little extra for charging off-peak. You can usually still charge whenever you need to.
I rent. Can I get a charger?
Your landlord can install one and claim the rebate. We're happy to talk to them.
Do you work with solar and batteries?
That's our day job. We can set up your charger so it works smart with your solar and battery.
