Roofing

Do you need a new roof, but you have solar?

Ecogen does the roof and the solar ourselves, so there's no second contractor to wait on. Solar-ready re-roofs, too.

  • Fully licensed & insured in MA, RI, CT, NH, and ME
  • One crew for roof and solar

Replacing a roof with solar on it usually means two companies: a solar crew to take the panels off, a roofer, and then the solar crew again, if you can get them back. That back-and-forth is where the weeks turn into months. We do the whole job ourselves. Our crew removes the panels, replaces the roof, reinstalls the system, and checks it’s producing before we leave. Your solar is typically down about two weeks, versus often two months or more with separate contractors. Planning solar for the first time? We can put on a new roof first, so it’s ready for decades.

Owned system: book it directly. Leased system: done with the lease company’s written approval. We can help with that as well — just let us know who it is with.

  • Typically about two weeks of downtime

Not the two months or more it often takes with separate contractors. One crew takes the panels down, replaces the roof and puts the system back.

  • New roofs, with or without solar

Full roof replacements and solar-ready re-roofs before a new install.

  • Back online before we leave

We reinstall the panels and confirm the system is producing again.

  • Leased system? We get approval first

If your solar is leased, we'll need the lease company's written approval before anything comes off the roof. We can help with that as well — just let us know who it is with.

Questions homeowners ask

How long will my solar be off during a re-roof?

Because one crew does the whole job, solar is typically down about two weeks. With separate roofing and solar contractors it often takes two months or more.

Can you remove panels that another company installed?

Yes, if you own the system. If it's leased, the lease company has to approve the work in writing first. We can help with that as well — just let us know who it is with.

What does panel removal and reinstall cost?

We'll quote it after we look at your system. You'll get a written quote before any work.
